Low density and high filling property
EPDM is a relatively low-density rubber, with a density of 0.87. In addition, you can fill it with a large amount of oil and fillers, which can reduce the cost of rubber products. And for EPDM with high Mooney value, the reduction of physical and mechanical energy after high filling is not large.
Aging resistance
EPDM products can be used for a long time at 120℃. Adding suitable antioxidants can increase its use temperature. Under the conditions of ozone concentration of 50pphm and stretching of 30%, EPDM can last for more than 150h without cracking.
Corrosion resistance
EPDM lacks polarity and has low unsaturation. Therefore, it has good resistance to various polar chemicals such as alcohol, acid, alkali, oxidant, refrigerant, detergent, animal and vegetable oil, etc.
EPDM has excellent water vapor resistance. In 230℃ superheated steam, the appearance does not change after nearly 100h. While under the same conditions, other rubbers such as natural rubber will experience obvious deterioration in a short time.
Resistance to superheated water
The superheated water resistance of EPDM is also good. But it is closely related to all vulcanization systems. After in 125℃ superheated water for 15 months, the mechanical properties changed very little, and the volume expansion rate was only 0.3%.
