Working pressure
When selecting, it is necessary to ensure that the max working pressure of the food hose and the connector is greater than that of the system. The pulse pressure in the system must be less than the max working pressure of the hose assembly.
Test pressure
The test is usually carried out at room temperature using water or other suitable media. The food grade hose assembly should maintain pressure for 30 to 60 seconds at 2 times the working pressure without leakage or pressure drop. Only in this way can the assembly pressure test be considered qualified.
Burst pressure
This means that the pressure that causes the hose to rupture should be at least 4 times the given working pressure. At present, most companies design and produce hoses at 4 times the pressure. However, the burst pressure value in the product sample is only used for hose production testing and cannot be used as a basis for hose selection.
Fluid compatibility
The food hose assembly must have good chemical compatibility with the contacting medium. Otherwise, it may cause the hydraulic system to not work properly or the hose to age and fail prematurely.
Temperature range
In order to avoid affecting the performance of the food rubber hose, the medium and surrounding ambient temperature should not exceed the temperature range that the hose itself can adapt to. Otherwise, the hose will age prematurely and leak.
Besides above factors, you must choose a reliable supplier. Because some factories don’t produce such hose with food grade material. Here I recommend you Orientflex. It’s a famous brand that you can trust.
