The structure of spiral hose
The skeleton layer (spiral layer) of spiral hose is that the single wire (fibre wire or steel wire) spirally intertwine on the inner tube at a certain angle. Each two adjacent layers intertwine in opposite directions respectively. Each single wire in the same layer parallels with others. The winding direction of two adjacent layers of single wire is symmetrical with the longitudinal axis of the hose.
According to different skeleton materials, spiral hoses can be divided into fibre spiral hose and steel wire spiral hose.
Fibre spiral hose
Fibre spiral hose consists of inner tube, fibre (yarn or others) spiral layer and external layer. It usually use special adhesive or mesoglea among the layers to improve the binding property.
Steel wire spiral hose
Steel wire spiral hose consists of inner tube, steel wire spiral layer and external layer. It use mesoglea among the layers to improve the overall structure.
Compared with fibre spiral hose, steel wire spiral hose has more strong structure. Which means it can bear higher pressure.
What’s the advantage of spiral hose
Compared with braided hose, spiral hose has many advantages. Skeleton material has no entanglement points for stress concentration, so the strength of steel wire can ply a full role. Most important, steel wire spiral hose can bear much higher pressure. It’s tested that the burst pressure is 30%-40% higher than braided hose. Besides, it has excellent torsion and pulse resistance.
