After using a hose in cold areas, in order to prevent the accumulated water from freezing and damaging the hose, the following methods can be used to drain the accumulated water:
Natural drainage method
Place the hose at an angle
Raise one end of the flat hose to form a certain tilt angle. Let the accumulated water flow naturally to the lower end under the action of gravity. For longer hoses, you can drain the water by tilting in sections. But make sure that the accumulated water in each part can be drained smoothly.
Shake the hose
During the process of tilting the hose to drain, gently shake the hose to make it easier for the water droplets attached to the inner wall of the hose to fall off, accelerating the discharge of the accumulated water. But be careful not to shake too hard to avoid damaging the water discharge hose.
Mechanical assisted drainage method
Use a drainage pump
If conditions permit, a small drainage pump can be used to extract the accumulated water in the hose. Insert the suction pipe of the drainage pump into one end of the hose, start the drainage pump, and the accumulated water in the hose can be quickly pumped out. This method has high drainage efficiency, can effectively shorten the drainage time, and reduce the possibility of accumulated water freezing.
Using compressed air
By passing compressed air into the hose, blow the accumulated water out from the other end of the hose. You can use an air pump or other compressed air source. Connect the air pipe to one end of the hose, slowly pass compressed air, and use air pressure to squeeze out the water. During the operation, control the pressure of the compressed air. Avoid damaging the hose due to excessive pressure.
Manual squeeze and drain method
Roll squeeze
Put the hose flat on the ground, start from one end of the hose, and gently roll the hose with your feet or other tools. Squeeze the accumulated water to the other end of the hose and drain it. Pay attention to uniform force during rolling to avoid deformation or damage of the hose due to excessive squeezing.
Segmented squeeze
For longer or thicker hoses, you can divide them into several sections and squeeze and drain them section by section. Hold a section of the hose with your hands or tools, squeeze hard, and squeeze the accumulated water to the adjacent section. Then squeeze the next section until all the accumulated water is discharged.
