Ms. Ganeja, deputy spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand, pointed out on May 31 that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has promoted the development of the EU market for Thai rubber, which has caused the purchase price of rubber to rise to nearly 100 baht per kilogram. It has hit a 12-year high.
Due to the vigorous promotion of the development of the EU market for crude rubber products and the efforts to obtain EU approval for Thai rubber to obtain zero EUDR, the market development measures have been demonstrated in the Central Rubber Market in Surat Thani Province since April, making rubber products traceable and in line with the EU’s zero deforestation law. These measures have caused the purchase price of grade 3 smoked rubber in Thailand to continue to soar, reaching 96.66 baht per kilogram, and it is expected that the price will reach 100 baht per kilogram in June, setting a record high in 12 years.
The continued rise in rubber prices will benefit rubber farmers. It will also enable the Thai rubber planting industry to develop towards a more environmentally friendly model. At the same time, it will enhance the data collection capabilities of Thai rubber buyers to have traceability capabilities, meet international standards, and sell at a better price.
Thailand is currently the world’s number one rubber producer. Exports account for one-third of global production. It is followed by Indonesia, Vietnam, Ivory Coast and China.
As a professional hose manufacturer, Orientflex predicts that the price of rubber products like rubber hose will rise after June, 2024.
