Natural Rubber
Natural Rubber has good wear resistance, high elasticity, tear strength and elongation. It is easy to age in the air and becomes sticky when heated. Besides, it is easy to swell and dissolve in mineral oil or gasoline. It is alkali-resistant but not resistant to strong acids.
Advantages: good elasticity, acid and alkali resistance.
Disadvantages: not resistant to weather and oil. It is the raw material for making tapes, hoses, and rubber shoes. And is suitable for making shock-absorbing parts, products used in automobile brake oil, ethanol and other liquids with hydroxide.
SBR
Compared with natural rubber, it has uniform quality and less foreign matter. It has better wear resistance and aging resistance. But the mechanical strength is weaker, and it can be mixed with natural rubber.
Advantages: low-cost non-oil-resistant material. Good water resistance, good elasticity with a hardness below 70.
Disadvantages: It is not recommended to use strong acids, ozone, greases and fats and most hydrocarbons. It is widely used in industries such as tires, shoes, cloth and conveyor belts.
SBR
SBR has high resistance to heat, sunlight and ozone. Besides, it has excellent electrical insulation. In addition, it has high resistance to polar solvents. The general use temperature range is -54 to 100°C.
Advantage: It is impermeable to most general gases. It has good resistance to sunlight and ozone. It can be exposed to animal or vegetable oils and chemicals.
Disadvantage: It is not recommended to use it with petroleum solvents, kerosene and aromatics. It can be mainly used for inner tubes of automobile tires, leather bags, rubber paste paper, steam hoses, heat-resistant conveyor belts, etc.
EPDM
Therefore, its heat resistance, aging resistance, ozone resistance and stability are all very excellent. But it cannot be sulfurized. The general use temperature range is -50 to 150°C.
Advantage: It has good weather resistance, excellent water resistance and chemical resistance, can use alcohols and ketones, is resistant to high-temperature steam, and has good impermeability to gases.
Disadvantages: It is not good for food industry. But it is ideal for seals in high temp water vapor and rubber parts in brake system.
NBR
Nitrile Rubber has better resistance to petrochemical oil hydrocarbon fuel oil. But its low temperature performance becomes worse. While the general use temperature range is -25-100℃. Nitrile rubber is one of the most commonly used rubbers for oil seals and O-rings.
Advantages: It has good oil resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance and high-pressure oil resistance, and has good compressibility, wear resistance and elongation.
Disadvantages: It is not suitable for polar solvents such as ketones and ozone.
