Twin welding hose technology, commonly known as “two connect one”, was first used in the former Soviet Union oil pipeline installation project, and further developed to three connect one, four connect one. The welding process was first used in Shaanxi – Beijing gas pipeline project in China.
In order to facilitate transportation, the steel pipe factory generally produces about 12 meters of steel pipe.
During pipeline laying, one weld shall be welded every 12 meters on the construction site.
Because the field welding environment is changeable and the welding workload is large, ensuring the welding quality becomes the most prominent problem in pipeline construction.
In order to improve the construction speed and ensure the welding quality, the twin welding hose technology is adopted in the field construction.
The twin welding hose technology is to set up a place near the pipeline construction site or on the construction belt, and to weld two steel pipes together by means of gas shielded welding and submerged arc automatic welding, and then to transport the steel pipes of about 24 meters to the pipeline for welding.
Because the twin welding hose operation line adopts the factory type operation, uses the similar steel pipe factory production process and the welding method, so it has the high welding quality, the high working efficiency, saves the equipment investment and so on the merit.The double pipe welding technology reduces the site workload by half, reduces the labor intensity of the site construction personnel, and improves the welding quality.
The equipment for welding two steel tubes together is called twin welding hose operation line.
n the basis of different technologies, there are different welding methods for twin welding hose. At first, manual welding was used to complete all welding tasks. Afterwards, the welding process of overpass gas shielding welding, automatic filling and cap welding is adopted. The twin welding hose technology, which will be used for the second line of west-east gas pipeline, adopts the automatic welding technology of inner and outer double wire buried arc of steel pipe.
The application of this new technology will make the double-pipe welding technology more mature, and will also contribute to the improvement of pipeline construction speed and guarantee of welding quality.
