How to select a high pressure PVC hose
Aging is one of the most important reasons that cause rubber hose performance reduce. Because of different production formulation and working conditions, the speed of aging is different. So we need an aging test to evaluate the effect that aging degree brings to performance. The aging test is to check the performance changes in the external conditions after a period. The test methods are as follow.
Natural aging test
Put the hose in the natural environment in tensile state. After the weathering, test and compare the performance exchange now and before. Data from such test in the most true and reliable because it is almost same with the actual working conditions. But it will take much of time to get the result.
To get the aging test data in a short time, you have to take speed-up measures.
Oven heating aging test
Simply called heat aging test, this is the most used method. Put the hose into the oven and the temperature keeps in70℃-100℃. Take out the hose 72 or 144 hours later and test it’s performance. Then compared the data with it before aging and calculate the aging index.
Weather aging test
It simulates the outdoor working conditions and test inside the oven. The appliance can reappear the weather conditions like sunlight (replaced with light) and rain (replaced with spray water). The test period could be 10-1000 hours according to requirements. After test, evaluate the mechanical property and look if there is crack on the surface.
Ozone aging test
Ozone aging test is to check the damage degree of ozone to rubber hose. The equipment is closed ozone aging contains an ozonator and produce ozone by mercury lamp. There will be tensile and torsion during test. A period later, check the crack depth and evaluate the ozone resistant performance.
Oxygen aging test
Put the hose into a closed container and charge oxygen, then test with heat and pressure. The temperature reaches 70℃ and the pressure keeps 0.6-0.7 Mpa. Test for 24-72 hours and test the data.
