Silicone fire sleeve is a common material in industry. It often serves in high temperature apps such as steel factory, metallurgy, welding, etc. You may know the great property of fire sleeve. But do you know how to install it?
6 steps to install the silicone hose sleeve
1: First, you need to determine the amount of casing you need to cover all of your hoses, wires, or cables. The ID (inner diameter) of the installed high temp resistant fire sleeve should be larger than the outer diameter of the hose/cable to allow the fire sleeve to slide over the cable or hose.
2: Once you determine the correct size, purchase the corresponding size and quantity.
3: After receiving the installed high temperature fire resistant casing, you may need to cut it to the correct length. This can be done using a sharp knife or a pair of industrial scissors.
4: Next, simply slide the installation heat-resistant fire-resistant sleeve onto the end of the pipe or cable.
5: To ensure a secure connection, connect stainless steel belt clips or wire rope ties to both ends of the high temperature resistant fireproof casing.
6: Finally, use silicone sealing tape to completely secure the fire sleeve to prevent fluid ingress and particle contamination. Depending on your application, some people prefer to do step 6 before step 5
