Large diameter layflat hoses (LDLH) have different pressure range. Because they are for different usage. After the test, the average pressure is about 13.8 bar of 130mm hose. While these provide the bases to the annual inspect. However, the practical pressure is lower than the average. But if you need larger pressure. For example, transfer the water to higher places or long distance. The firefighters can use a 20.7 bar layflat hose. Meanwhile, they don’t need the truck.
Besides, there will be differential pressure. Because the hoses have their own structure. For example, increase the pressure and expand the diameter. So that the flow can be improved. For 130mm layflat hose, the pressure difference is 0.23-0.45 bar/30m. While the flow is 3800L/min. Such difference is not that obvious for short hose. But if the hose is long, the difference will be huge. Thus you’d better ask for the test data before the purchase.
Importance of connection
Layflat hose is no the only factor to transfer water to another place. In fact, the connection is also matter. If the connection is well, then the LDLH can work effectively.
The most important connection is the inlet valve on the pump truck. When the pump works, large amount of water pours. During this period, any block will cause serious water hammer. Then it breaks the layflat hose and hurts the operator.
To avoid such problem, there is manual switch on the inlet valve. The switch can close the valve slowly. Thus there will not be danger. Besides, there is a relief valve to avoid over pressure on the connect section. If the pressure approaches to a certain, it will discharge water to the ground. Last, there is a blow-off valve to eliminate the air in inlet valve.
