In the former articles, I shared you much information of hose. While this time let’s talk about the quality of hoses. Hope this can help you know hose well and use hose well.
First let’s see some misunderstandings of the hose quality.
The thick the hose is, the better the quality will be
Lots of people have such opinion that the quality will be better with thick wall thickness. However, things no goes like this. Normally hose consists three parts: inner tube, reinforcement and out cover. The wall thickness is the sum of these three parts. In our traditional though, the pressure resistance will be better with the larger wall thickness. However, the key of the pressure resistance is the reinforcement. The reinforcement structure and raw material are also important. But the thickness is not that matter.
The more transparent the hose is, the better the quality will be
Many people insist such method, especially in food and medical industries. Because they think that they can see the medium clearly inside the transparent hose. While the non transparent or semi transparent hose seem not that good in quality. In fact, this is a misunderstanding. Because the transparency is determined by the property of raw material. Therefore, transparent or not is not the factor of quality.
The quality is bad if there is smell
On clients’ opinion, there should be no smell of the hoses, especially food transfer hose. But in fact, rubber hose has inherent smell because of its material. However, such smell has no influence to the medium. Besides, food grade hose is inspected by the relevant administration. Thus there is no other smells in it.
When failure, people think it’s bad quality
When the hose failure after a short time’s use, people will regard it as a bad quality hose. This is also a common phenomenon. Actually, there are many reasons for the failure like working conditions, wrong types, installation problem and nonstandard operation. Quality problem is just one of them. So when hose fail, we should analyze it case by case.
